The Echmiadzin Instrument-Making Plant (EIMP) is located in the city of Vagharshapat in the Republic of Armenia, nestled in the Ararat Valley between the majestic Mounts Ararat and Aragats, eighteen kilometers from the capital, Yerevan.
The plant is situated at a prime junction for the country’s automobile, rail, and air routes: Zvartnots International Airport is ten kilometers to the east; the Araks railway station of the Transcaucasian Railway is located south of the plant; and the Yerevan-Vagharshapat-Erzurum international highway passes by the plant.
The plant was founded in 1966 as a small tool factory of the Ministry of Local Industry of the Armenian SSR.
In 1970, the plant became part of the Rostov Helicopter Plant as a branch.
In 1971, by order of the USSR Minister of Aviation Industry, the plant became an independent instrument-making plant (IPMP).
In 1996, IPMP was privatized and is currently known as the Echmiadzin Instrument-Making Plant Joint-Stock Company.
As of September 18, 2018, the Echmiadzin Instrument-Making Plant Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) was renamed the Echmiadzin Instrument-Making Plant Closed Joint-Stock Company (ZAO EPMP).
IPMP is fully staffed with qualified engineering, design, and labor resources, and boasts modern equipment, including universal milling, automatic, lathe, and coordinate-guided machines. It also has mechanical, pressing, tooling, galvanizing, and assembly shops. The plant’s products are used in the aviation industry.
